My ears began ringing.
Marcus continued.
“Your internal network logs show the device was active inside the house on multiple transfer dates.”
“Laura lived there.”
“Yes. Except one transaction was made at 11:14 p.m. on March 12.”
“So?”
“The hotel photographs supposedly placing Laura with another man were timestamped that same evening nearly sixty miles away.”
I stared at the wall.
“She couldn’t have done both.”
“Correct.”
“Unless the photographs were fake.”
“Not fake. Misleading.”
Marcus sent me an enlarged image.
The woman wore Laura’s camel coat.
Her hair was similar.
Her face was almost entirely hidden.
Marcus had located security footage from a gas station near our home.
At 9:51 that same evening, Laura’s car entered our neighborhood.
